Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan (CCMP)

Successful restoration requires a science-based plan to restore water quality, habitat health, ecosystem services and the health of the Indian River Lagoon.

The CCMP’s primary goal is to steer the IRLNEP and its partners toward implementing corrective actions and solutions that restore the IRL to health. Developed in consultation with the Management Conference and other subject matter experts, the CCMP takes key actions:

  • Outlines the status of lagoon health
  • Provides an overview of the critical issues stressing the ecosystem
  • Outlines a plan for action

The IRL Vital Signs

The IRL Vital Signs wheel provides a visual summary of the CCMP. It contains the 32 Action Plans that we developed to guide improvements to lagoon health.

Imagine 32 lanes of a highway all leading to a healthy lagoon.

Federal and state agencies, counties, cities, community groups and individuals can determine which Vital Signs align with their areas of responsibility. Then, they can work to address the problems they have control over. As communities complete more work, the lagoon will become healthier.
